NASA Shares Stunning Close-Up of Jupiter's Giant Red Spot!
NASA has released an incredible picture of Jupiter's Great Red Spot on their Instagram.
The Great Red Spot is a giant storm on Jupiter, way bigger than our planet Earth! It's actually twice the size!
This monstrous storm has been swirling around for a very long time - scientists believe it's been there for over 350 years!
There's some interesting news about the storm.
While it's massive, scientists say it might be getting smaller. It's gotten shorter by about 12.5% and thinner by about 33% since the 1970s. But don't worry, it's still a giant!
The storm is super deep, plunging an estimated 200 miles (300 km) below Jupiter's clouds.
Since Jupiter doesn't have solid ground like Earth, the winds inside this storm can reach crazy speeds – up to 400 mph (643 kph)!
The NASA picture shows the Great Red Spot in all its glory. It's surrounded by swirling red, tan, and orange clouds, making for a breathtaking view.
