What is Rare Bombay Blood Group

The Bombay blood group, also known as hh blood type, is very uncommon

Our blood has different types based on proteins on its surface. The Bombay blood group is missing a key ingredient called the H antigen.

This missing ingredient happens due to a specific genetic mutation.

Two copies of this mutation are needed for the Bombay blood group, making it less frequent.

The Bombay blood group is more common in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Iran.

People with the Bombay blood group can only receive blood from other Bombay blood group individuals.

Regular blood types wouldn't be compatible.

Because it's rare, the Bombay blood group can be mistaken for another type during testing. Careful checks are needed to ensure a safe blood transfusion.
